Number One

I love a superhero game, well at least, I love the concept of one. I remember playing the Spider-man game and being pretty impressed, but apart from that, I cannot recall another game in this genre, except the recent X-Men Origins: Wolverine, that has made a lasting impression.

I am a huge Superman fan, and when the new movie came out in 2006, I was really excited to see what game play action we would be seeing. I was not impressed. The game was rushed, due to the movie release, it was cheap looking and superman flew like a cardboard cut out. I guarantee that any game that has been released after a big movie will be terrible, just a studio rush job.

This Batman game should be different, I believe some people have actually put some thought behind this one. I downloaded the Demo for PS3. It starts with Batman taking The Joker back to Arkham Asylum, when they arrive, it becomes obvious that The Joker’s had a plan in motion all along to take control of the Asylum and it’s inmates. I am guessing that the whole game will be set in and around the complex of the asylum.

stealth

In the demo you have to fight some inmates and I was impressed with the fighting. It is pretty fluid with a good variety of in between animations when you land a decent shot or combo. One negative would be that the fighting was a little too easy, so hopefully that will get harder as the game progresses. I get the feeling that this game will mostly be about stealth and finding the best way around the problem, rather than full on combat, which I like.

I don’t think there has ever been a decent Batman game, so this one is set to take the top spot in my opinion. I will definitely be buying this one, stay tuned for a full review when it comes out (Release Dates below).

P.S…Bring on a non rushed Superman Game!

So, I got some new tees this week, pretty sweet eh? I have always wanted to design my own t-shirts. Infact, now I think I will, it is time to get the online shop in motion!

It is ridiculously late on a Saturday to be blogging but what the buck. I have been really addicted to Youtube and Facebook recently, I think I want to start a video blog and become an internet celebrity,  it looks easy. My fav youtube legend, of the moment, has to be iJustine, she is insanely random, which I like, Check IT!

In other news, my blog design is going at a tremendously slow speed, I just cant get into the swing of it! I am, however, sketching and noting down ideas on paper on how I want this thing to grow, some thoughts are… Reviews on all sorts of random stuff from Games & Movies to Toothpaste & Beer, I also want to keep this up to date with all my latest designs and artwork, so I have got a few ideas on how to do that.

In gaming news, I love the look of Modern Warfare 2, I think Infinity Ward is really gonna knock the ball out of the park on this one. I even heard that rapper 50-cent will be makng a little cameo in the game as a voice over, which I think is hilarious… G-G-G-G-Greenadaaa! I am also looking forward to see what IF’s answer is to Treyarch’s popular “Zombie Mode”, same gameplay in a modern setting? Hope so. The game is out on PS3 and Xbox on the 10th November this year, get it bought and add me on the Playstation Network… user name bruffstar

OK, time for sleep. Goodnight internet.

MTV International / Sweetheart from Universal Everything on Vimeo

MTV Networks International teamed up with UK-based studio Universal Everything to create the Channels new rebrand – sorry – refresh, to be used across the company’s network of 64 channels.

I like it, they have said that the logo will not be arsed around with anymore, according to Roberto Bagatti, who is Creative Director of MTV’s World Design Studio in Milan. The new logo, is the same as the old logo, only this time it will always be black on white, no colours or themes. Good job MTV, a classic case of – if its not broke then don’t fix it. Check out the video above, its 1 of 6 in the series of new idents to show of the new look.

Superman Project

I have been at Creative Glass for just over 3 months now and in May I decided to try my hand at some glass work. It is a very creative place here and I can get my hands on all the tools and materials I need.

I had the idea to try and replicate the Superman logo, this proved not to be as straight forward as I had first thought. I asked everybody in work how they would do it, as most of them have got a lot of experience with this type of thing, I didn’t listen to them. All their ideas were good, but the end result just wouldn’t have been what I was looking for.

The main problem I was facing was getting the blue outline which surrounded the yellow shapes that make up the “S”. In the end, after some tests, I came up with a “Layered” effect. I hand cut the glass and lay all the shapes on top of each other. To get the blue outline, I cut the blue shapes 2mm larger than the yellow. The fusing process also took some thought, I didn’t want to fire the glass at too high a temperature, as I wanted to retain the sharp edges of the glass, I decided to tack fuse it at a top temperature of 725°c and the end effect gives you a piece which from the front, you see the logo as normal and from the side you see an interestingly different 3d shape.

See the slide show below for images showing the creation and end result…
